Food, Feed & Health

World is moving towards more sustainable production of food, feed including crop and animal produces while ensuring health of environment, animals and human beings under one health which comes under broader umbrella of planetary health. Ensuring safety of food and feed and harnessing the vitalities of food and feed for healthier human and animal population is a key focus in COMBIVET as well. Other than the nutritional aspects of food and feed, there are many bioactivities in different food and feed ingredients specially from plant origin.  Crop and milk production has considerable amounts of by-products and waste which carry some of yet o tap resources. Specially crop waste can carry biologically active compounds which can be extracted   and add value as ingredient for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industry incorporating circular bioeconomic principles.  Specifically plant vesicles and extracellular vesicles from milk whey could be natural rich sources of many bioactive compounds that  have many health and therapeutic benefits.  Under this theme, the COMBIVET ERA chair is harnessing the vesicles from plant and animal origin by-product and tying to incorporate back to promote health of both animals and human beings.
