The mammalian reproduction is a process of controlled cellular growth and development regulated by constant communication between the gametes, the subsequent embryo and the maternal system. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are involved in these communications to a significant degree from the gamete production and maturation to fertilization, embryo development and implantation. They regulate the cellular physiology and the immune reaction to bring about a favourable environment for a successful pregnancy. Deciphering the mechanisms employed in EV-mediated embryo maternal communication could improve our knowledge in mammalian reproduction and increase the efficiency of animal breeding.
Considering the pandemic situation, the event was organized on 28th to 29th of April as a hybrid event. Both physical and virtual attendees were welcomed and had an excellent opportunity to network and initiate collaborations in the field of One Health.
Extracellular vesicles in pathophysiology new advances in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in health and diseaseThis was the first two-day-symposium which was arranged by COMBIVET team. The symposium took place on August 26-27 and the aim was to gather lecturers and experts from different EV related research fields.
Basics to work with extracellular vesicles hybrid summer schoolThe summer school was a three day event from 23-25th of August where people introduced several methods for working with Extracellular Vesicles (EVs). The seminars and hands-on training sessions were conducted by researchers and PhD students working on different EV projects in Tartu.
The outcome of this Summer School was knowledge, which will help the students and researchers to plan and conduct a project to study EVs. At the summer school shared their knowledge several COMBIVET project members and quests. |
